Three Rotaract MDIO organizations, Rotaract Mediterranean, Europe and Oceania, organized the Climate Change Live Event in this “MDIOs Unite for the Environment – 1st Edition” on Saturday 21st August.
“The world is on fire”: large forest fires, floodings, hurricanes, drought and other disasters causing losses of human and animal lives, destroying homes and billions of trees, killing bees and insects, all as a result of climate change.
Rotaractors and experts discussed how Rotaractors can change our world!
The three presidents Becky Giblin (Oceania), Jad Salame (Mediterranean), Christiane Leitner (Europe) presented the live event with contributions from M. Yasar Atacik, ESRAG and Rotaractors from Turkey, Greece, Algeria, Lebanon and Cyprus about the wild fires around the Mediterranean.
The expert panel consisted of:
- Amerika Garcia Grewal, Past President of Rotary Club of Suva East, District 9920, Amerika led the Kick out 2020 and cyclone and flood relief in Fiji projects
- Gert-Jan van Dommelen, Past Presidentof Rotary Club of Huizen-Gooimeer, D1570. Gert-Jan is the co-founder of EndPlasticSoup.
- Tiara Drabble from Rotaract Club Oceania. Tiara took part in the organization of the Kickout 2020 project
- Pernille Kobbelgaard Ravnsbæk, President of Rotaract Aalborg. Pernille is Rotaract advocate of climate change
- Deniz Vural Rotaractor Member of ESRAG. Deniz is a geotechnical engineer, environmental researcher and activist.
Panel’s moderator: Morten Saxtorff, the vice-president of ERIC (Rotaract Europe).
