On Sunday 4th February 2024, the team of Rotaract Muteesa 1 Royal University Kirumbateam headed 27 kilometres to Wagwa high school in lukaya to have several actions:
- Capacity building session of 24 Interactors on ending plastic pollution and shared simple projects they could do to protect mother earth from plastic pollution.
- We later had an exhibition attended by more than 40 students who visited our desk with questions about plastic pollution, nature protection and Menstrual hygiene plus reproductive health which we answered and kept record of.
- We later attended the new term opening fellowship and amidst the session I gave a keynote address on the role of youth in fighting plastic pollution.
- During the fellowship students exhibited the various projects they did in the holiday. A special one was about making paper bags, we encouraged them to continue and distribute these around the school. They can become a plastic free school if they stop using plastic bags and also reuse/recycle all plastics they use.
- Later we had a photo session and pledge session using our boards to end plastic pollution. We had extra chats to inspire the children at our stall & exhibition center to motivate them to be focused on education and also become social change makers.
