Plastic Museum at Alma resort in Cam Ranh (Vietnam)
Alma Resort and EndPlasticSoup have defined a project to implement an EndPlasticSoup Plastic Museum at the Alma Resort in Cam Ranh.
Background information
With more than 8,000 tons of plastic waste generation per day (WWF Vietnam, 2021), Vietnam is one of the top ten countries in the world for plastic pollution.
The consumption of single use plastics is a common problem in Vietnam. Approximately 75% of solid waste in the country, including plastics, is mismanaged, or improperly disposed, with only about 15% being recycled. This has contributed to plastic pollution as plastics constitute 80% of marine waste in the country.

While there is a big problem with plastic waste in the country itself, areas where tourist visit, where there is an opportunity for education and involve the tourists in these activities to support the clean environment in Vietnam.
Plastic Museum at Alma resort in Cam Ranh
Alma Resort and EndPlasticSoup have defined a project to implement an EndPlasticSoup Plastic Museum at the Alma Resort in Cam Ranh. Cam Ranh is famous for its hundreds of natural beaches, offering tourists a refreshing atmosphere.
The ‘Plastic Museum’ will be an information and experience center to create awareness for local communities, schools and tourists, and provide guidance for visitors what they can do themselves:
- How to reduce single use plastics and what you can do yourself.
- Segregation of waste at source. Organic ingredients make high quality compost reducing domestic solid waste at landfills (70% organic waste) and enable recycling.
- Best Practices and recommended mechanisms of the Vietnam Environmental Report to encourage activities to reduce, reuse and recycle solid waste.
- Recycling workshops and experience center.
- Education ‘Happy Green Vietnam’ regarding waste management.

Open for all
The museum is open for everyone, local people can visit and experience the workshops. Tourists from all hotels in the area can visit the museum and workshops, can also do intercultural exchange, international families can meet Vietnamese families, and explain best practices at home and become friends.

Beach cleanup
Each month there will be a beach cleanup by schools. Tourists and hotel-staff in Cam Ranh are invited to participate in the cleanup. Hotels in Cam Ranh organized such cleanups already several times in the past.
Read more about these activities to create awareness and collect waste.
Education
Last year EndPlasticSoup provided education material ‘Happy Green Vietnam’ for the pilot education at primary schools in Cam Ranh.
Besides Vietnam, the Happy Green educational material has also been introduced in the Philippines and Indonesia. Read more about the educational material of ‘Happy Green’.
