Merijn Tinga, the Plastic Soup Surfer from the Netherlands continues on his challenge to surf from Oslo to London, Paris, Nice and now from Nice to Rome. He has met Prince Albert II from Monaco and will meet Pope Leo XIV in Rome on May 21st to ask for attention and awareness for the plastic pollution. Our director Alain Dewe was a great support in arranging support from Rotary Clubs along the route and arranging the meeting with Prince Albert II.
Merijn Tinga started his surf journey at the end of April and sails from Nice → Monaco → Sanremo → Albenga → Savona → Genoa → Rome. It has been a tough challenge because of front winds. Merijn is 55 years and hopes to continue to Athens and Istanbul next year and the year after.
He is a great person and shows that one man can make a difference and achieve lots of awareness regarding plastic pollution.
