We offer a presentation in your club about End Plastic Soup to grow awareness, and learn what actions you can take as individuals and a club.
We will include the following information and more:
- Impact plastic pollution has on our environment and society.
- The dangers of microplastics on plankton and fungi with a direct reduction of their fertility and absorption of CO2 (reduction impact of 30-40%) and their function as a big Carbon Sink (70% of all capacity, only 30% done by trees and plants). Microplastics are everywhere.
- Information about the toxic components that leak from plastics and endanger the fertility and health of all life on our planet with 30% reduction, impacting the biodiversity, our food chain and the quality of water, soil and air.
- The impact on our human health, hormone system and fertility and the growing proof of the dangers of; 30% less fertility for boys and girls, microplastics in our blood and organs and the growing knowledge of a relationship with Parkinson and other mental diseases.
The current new-plastic (‘virgin plastic’) production and consumption levels are high, the increase is 2-3 times in the next 10 years according to the industry, the ability of many countries to manage the plastic waste is not available, and regulations are still weak regarding poisonous additives, microplastics, recycling and plastic waste export from western countries outside the region to development countries.
Climate change is a result from CO2 (equivalent) levels in the atmosphere. Reducing our high emissions has an effect for the shorter term (5-10 years), while reducing microplastics has an even larger influence on reducing CO2 levels in the longer term (20 years). This is caused by the reduced impact on fungi in the soil and plankton in the oceans and therefore improving our planet’s CO2 absorption. These ocean and soil CO2 sinks are a great solution as the plankton and fungi take it down permanently and absorb twice as much as the CO2 absorption of our ‘green sinks’ (trees, plants and all greenery) that can burn and then released the CO2 again.
And … Microplastics damage biodiversity and human health.
