We are honoured with the recognition of Gloria Majiga-Kamoto from Malawi as our Ambassador for EndPlasticSoup.
Gloria is working for the Centre of Environmental Policy and Advocacy, Programme manager of Natural Resources, and is the 2021 Goldman Environmental Prize recipient.
Together we will promote and support education to young people regarding the prevention and solution of plastic pollution to «end plastic soup».
Gloria inspires young black people
From her experience with the Goldman Prize and all the publicity around it, Gloria got a lot of feedback from young people in university and high school. These young people are trying to plan their future and decide to do something meaningful with their lives. For these young black girls and young black women, it is very encouraging to see another young woman doing something that is changing the world.

Young people fighting against plastic pollution
There are also a lot of young adults who are settling into their careers and realizing that plastic is such a big problem of our generation. They want to be part of the solution without necessarily working for an NGO. They just want to be part of that bigger voice.
So that is definitely how Gloria sees her demographic influence. She is really eager to create opportunities for people to be part of the conversation and how they can start making small changes in their life that can make a big difference. To help them understand the problem and to empower them to fight plastic pollution.

Gloria’s cooperation with EndPlasticSoup
There is a rural population that doesn’t really see what they can do, but they are a big part of the problem.
There are two plans to teach the rural population:
- Gloria has been working on a book – a coloring book – that teaches them about the environment. Gloria plans school events to distribute the books and crayons. It would be a really effective way to teach them.
- Another one is just to do school visits with the Rotary clubs – this can be done on clean up Fridays as set by government or just any day and have some educational talks and games as a way of reaching a whole household.
