Schools and community Biking and walking Initiative
Engaging Schools and Young People to End Plastic Pollution
Plastic pollution is a critical issue affecting our environment. Schools and young people play a vital role in addressing this problem. Through my biking and walking initiatives the program will promote sustainability and reduce reliance on plastic products and enhance plastic sorting and collection.
- Bike-to-School Programs:
- I will use my bicycle to ride to school in Uganda and share with students about plastic, its effect, control measures and its reduction in society alongside exhibiting projects that have worked out in other areas to promote awareness and action.
- We shall also utilise an hour of school time with students that own bicycles to bike through their communities to show the the effects of plastic pollution, brainstorm and develop action projects for the identified challenges resulting from improper waste management and plastic pollution.
- *Walking Initiative*:
With groups of students walking, we shall walk to our communities and surroundings to understand the effects of plastic pollution, create awareness on proper waste management and reduction of plastic in the society.We shall continue and held discussion with senior community elders and leaders on enhancing plastic collection and education in our regions. - Schools as Plastic Collection Centers:
We shall ask more schools to become plastic collection centers, where students and community members bring plastic waste for pickup by recycling companies and also exchange plastic for scholastic materials and reusable sanitary pads. This not only reduces plastic pollution but also educate students about recycling, waste management, Menstrual hygiene, peace, togetherness and Eco-friendly. - Community Collaboration:
Through our walking and biking initiative we shall partner with local governments and businesses to help create safe biking and walking routes and support educational campaigns and plastic collection and reduction. - Interact and Rotaract clubs:
I will continue to encourage youth to form clubs in schools for longevity and continuity of the action projects and development.
By integrating these initiatives, the schools and communities will foster a culture of environmental responsibility and contribute significantly to reducing plastic pollution and climate conservation in Uganda EastAfrica.
