In September and October Rotary Clubs worldwide organized awareness and cleanup events for World Cleanup day and World Rivers day. Below a summary of actions that were done.
India
Cleanliness drive of Central Park, Jaipur, India, 2 October 2024
Our Ambassador Sanjay Kaushik, Rotary Club Jaipur Royal, D3056, organized a Cleanliness Drive and Plastic Free Environment Campaign to promote environmental awareness and enhance the beauty of our community.
Aaditya End Plastic campaign, India, 15th to 30th October 2024
District Governor Dr. Raakhi Gupta, District 3056, called for club actions in the district with impactful events that promote awareness and action towards reducing plastic waste. The 5 best activity collages will be acknowledged and receive a certificate of appreciation from the District Governor’s office.
Honduras
Rotary clubs united in the ‘Alliance Motagua river’ did a great cleanup, supported by our ambassador club of Puerto Cortes and by Rotarians Salvador Rico and Bricia ElAwar, and in cooperation with The Ocean Cleanup. Our Ambassador Rotary Club of Puerto Cortes, Honduras and Rotary Club of Yankton, USA joined forces developing the project “Cleaning Pollution Motagua River Puerto Cortes, Honduras”.

Mexico-USA
The 6th Clean Up El Rio Bravo / El Rio Grande River, D4130, 20-27 October 2024
The incredible group of Rotarians from the Initiative ‘Unite we Clean Up El Rio Bravo / El Rio Grande River’ have come together for their 6th Cleanup Rio Grande/Rio Bravo event on 20th October, 2024, which took place in three lagoons, one El Mezquital in the city of Nuevo Progreso and the others two lagoons Independencia and Benito Juárez in the city of Río Bravo.
In the week after the event, many cleanups have been done in several cities. Some Cities like Laredo Texas had a beautification and Clean Up next to the river. At the Aztec neighborhood, houses have been painted and at the Las Palmas Trail had a Cleanup. In the city of Río Bravo, Clean up and reforestation of one hundred trees have been done in two lagoons tributary to the river, La Laguna Benito Juarez and La Laguna Independencia, in Ciudad Progreso the cleaning of the lagoon tributary to the river and a meeting with the Mayor of the city, the department of the environment and education. Other events took place on 27th October in cities such as Acuña Coahuila, Matamoros and Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas.

Seychelles
Sailing for Good, Flotilla in the Seychelles, 23-27 October, 2024
Vladimir Korsun, RC Ekatarinenburg, D2223, Russia, again organized the Rotary Sailing Flotilla, under the flag of EndPlasticSoup, to give awareness for the problem of plastic pollution. The Sailing Flotilla collects funds for EndPlasticSoup and the Rotary Foundation, the ecological section.
