From 16-25 September the Rotary Flotilla in Croatia took place, a Rotary sailing for good with crews from the USA, Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Jamaica, Italy and New Zealand.
A mission for peace, friendship and raising awareness and funds for EndPlasticSoup, organized by Vladimir Korsum, president of RC of Ekaterinburg, D2223, Russia.
Ildus Yanyshev, PDG D2223 2020-2021, chairman of eco (green) committee D2223, RC Kazan, gave his support to the action with hope for close cooperation of Rotary Sailing Flotilla with the End Plastic Soup Initiative.
24 Rotarians joined and each donated from 100 to 600 USD for the good cause. Collectively flotilla raised over $7000, with a majority of that coming from Russian Rotarians that had hoped to join us.
All participants wore T-shirts with the EndPlasticSoup logo and met with other Rotarians along the Mediterranean coast.
A meeting was held with five Croatian clubs and their global grant to clean up plastic from the world’s oceans was discussed. And now American clubs have begun cooperation with Croatian clubs in this area.
Vladimir Korsun organized the Flotilla and the team is going to do a similar action on the Seychelles in October 2024.
