The ‘XS Flavofish’ district 2110 project held its closing event on 20th June 2021 at the Isola Lachea, a Marine Reserve administrated by the University of Catania. Participation from RC Acicastello, Misterbianco, Paternò and EndPlasticSoup Ambassador Club E-Club District 2110, together with the other clubs of the Etnea area, Plastic Free, EndPlasticSoup, the Protected Marine Area of the Cyclops, the Italian Naval League, the Municipality of Acicastello and other associations. The E-Club D.2110 was the promoter during the Rotary year 2020-2021 with a district grant project for the small Flavofish. 4 other Rotary Clubs together with the scuba diving schools, the speleological volcanic group for cleaning inside the harbor blocks, other environmental group and also a group of 20 USAF marines from the Sigonella American base close to Catania! Activities started at about 6.00 a.m. At the end of the day there was a conference from a group of the Catania University working on microplastic in the sea (http://www.bollettino.unict.it/gallery/un-brevetto-etneo-consente-la-prima-volta-di-quantificare-totalmente-le-microplastiche).
50% paid of the costs were paid by the Clubs with the other 50% paid by the fund of our District DDF.
