22 Thousand people support Aeshnina Azzahra Aqilani (Nina), our Young Ambassador, to make a plastic sachet free school canteen.
Nina wants to create 1,000 school canteens in Indonesia that do not have candees in sachets anymore.
Problem at schools
In Indonesia the prevalence of children with diabetes increased 70 times in January 2023 compared to 2010. This condition is very worrying. Children have adopted unhealthy lifestyles, one of which is the result of consuming foods high in sugar. School canteens have so far provided lots of sweet food and sachet drinks which are so easy to reach.
Apart from the urgency of the problem of massive sugary food and drinks circulating in schools Nina demands attention for burning plastic waste in the school environment. Children must be protected from inhaling toxic air and microplastic particles which are harmful to health.
Nina asks attention of the government
With the support of 22,109 people who signed a petition for healthy school canteens Nina send a letter to the President Jokowi and to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in Indonesia.
