Ambassador Club RC Marbella and Rotary Clubs in Portugal support the La Portugal Azul expedition that investigates plastic waste along the Atlantic coast of Portugal including the Azores. The expedition is led by famous adventurer Nacho Dean as a follow-on of the successful La Espana Azul expedition in 2023, and aims at raising awareness of marine plastic waste, collecting data and promoting care for marine habitats.
The boat and her crew will start in March 2025 visiting 10 harbours along the Atlantic coast and in the Azores and will continue travelling around the Portugese coastline until June 2025.
In cooperation with the University of Cadiz, their mission at each stop is to conduct scientific research, beach clean-ups and seminars for schools, local governments, and their communities. Rotary Clubs in Portugal will support the local awareness actions.
